Over the years, I've purposely pared down my seasonal decor. I find that I can be just as content and inspired by using natural elements and a few fun or surprising seasonal items scattered in the mix. To me, the end result can be just as special and holiday-like. Plus, there are the added bonuses of saving money on the budget and space in the attic, garage and basement. Today, I thought I'd share with you a few of the ways I incorporate my less is more strategy and ideas with a seasonal autumn table setting.

First off, let me say these recipes could not be easier. Really. Even if your cooking skills are next to nil, you will have success with these simple and fast syrups. And there's something so fun about making your own, people think you know fancy tricks in the kitchen. Which obviously will be our little secret.

1. Oh my gosh...IKEA has a brand new Paper Shop! Aren't those honeycomb decorations the cutest? My closest store isn't stocked yet, so I left having a tiny temper tantrum with myself. I also love the black and kraft notebooks and the chunky notepads would be great for a desk. I'm hope they start stocking soon...I want to have a party!

One of the best ways I've learned to eat more salads during the week, is to prep many of the ingredients ahead of time. It's truly been a game changer in my ability to create seriously delicious salads...the kind that everyone wants to eat! Usually on Sunday afternoons, I'll start washing and chopping away, and roast several sheet pans of veggies. I also cook a big batch of grains, like brown rice, quinoa or bulgar to add to our salads or for quick side dishes during the week.

This Harvest Salad is one of those mid-week meals that comes together quickly and tastes absolutely amazing! And the vinaigrette? You'll be wanting to pour it on everything...roasted root vegetables, couscous, grilled chicken or fish. It's sooo good!

I've been on a little bit of a copper kick. I think it's because I can't get on board with the whole brass trend since the 80's and 90's are still very fresh in my mind. So copper it is. While out running errands with my daughter, we stopped by an estate sale (haven't done that in AGES) and I bought a set of 6 copper mugs. That sort of set the ball rolling...

Every summer, Labor Day fast approaches and we try to squeeze in the last drops of summer fun. Usually, we have a barbecue with family and friends, but this year, The Man and I decided to sneak off to Carmel.
