Get the Look | Cozy Autumn Bedroom

Autumn is officially here! I don’t know about you, but here in southern California, we don’t see a lot of color change in the trees, so I’m making up for my lack of fall foliage with this autumnal inspired roundup. I discovered this image on Pinterest and was immediately drawn to the shades of steely gray and rusty terra cotta combined with all of the cozy textures. I also love that the styling feels casual and a little bit messy or “unfinished.” It feels authentic. I did some internet snooping and found some amazing pieces that recreate the warm seasonal look. Let’s get cozy!

Shop Visit: Tancredi & Morgen

Every summer, Labor Day fast approaches and we try to squeeze in the last drops of summer fun. Usually, we have a barbecue with family and friends, but this year, The Man and I decided to sneak off to Carmel. We stopped in Tancedi & Morgen so I could get my antiquing fix and I was able to take some photos to share with you. Come along with me! You'll see how charming it is...

The Man and I decided to take a little road trip this past weekend. Things have been so busy and we were both looking forward to a getaway. A long drive in the country was the perfect escape.

One of the unexpected pleasures of road tripping is finding hidden gems along the way. Those places you don't intend to come across but are so glad you did.

The Santa Ysabel General Store is just such a place.

Field Trip: Jimtown Store

Jimtown Store is an old fashion country store and cafe located in the vineyards of Alexander Valley in Sonoma County. They have delicious soups, salads, sandwiches and desserts all created in house from scratch. It's the perfect pit stop while road tripping through California wine country. We love stopping here for a little rest, relaxation and refueling. I especially love their small outdoor patio.

Their iconic 1955 Ford pickup is always parked out front. And their chalkboard menu greets you at the front door announcing their specials for the day.

Along with the full service cafe and deli you can shop their selection of Jimtown Goods, pick up fresh local produce, fun nostalgic toys or a few great cookbooks.

There's plenty for everyone in the family! You can read about the story of Jimtown Store or even better, stop by the next time you're in the area!

l'Objet qui Parle

Objet6Oooh, this is the part where I get to tell you about the amazing antique shop we stumbled upon! I had not heard nor read about it anywhere in my research, online or otherwise. So finding it was completely serendipitous. It's like this shop was meant for me to find! Welcome to l'Objet qui Parle...

The shop was so well curated and you could easily see it was the singular vision of the owner. He had an amazing collection of taxidermy, botanical prints and specimens, religious relics, oil paintings, gorgeous chandeliers and antique china. And his shop was so small and packed that he had to stand outside on the sales counter here. Why bother anyway, it leaves more room for inventory!

I spent a lot of time peeking into every little nook and cranny. Didn't want to miss a thing! I studied his shop like I was cramming for my mid term finals. My affection was obvious and he allowed me to take glad he did (many don't). In the shot above I loved the chalkware cow and the small landscape prints wrapped in copper frames. Can you spot them?

His mirror selection was amazing and he had them wrapped all around the store. My sister collects sunburst mirrors and has a wall of them in her home. They make for a beautiful gallery. And don't you love the vintage cannisters, cafe au lait bowls and mis-matched sets of china?

Hello amazing gray cabinet...will you squeeze into my luggage please? And I don't mind if everything in it comes along too.

I found his prices to be similar to those at the flea markets. I bought a gorgeous antique oil painting and a shadow box butterfly specimen. Will show you those later, promise.

I'm positive the owner scours the best flea markets in and around Paris. He doesn't even open his shop until 1pm. Probably to ensure plenty of time for treasure hunting. And he also doesn't have a website. But if you're going to Paris and love antique shops, I would not miss this one. The next time I'm in Paris...I'm heading here first!
