Announcing: Trouvé Prop

Announcing: Trouvé Prop

Sometimes a big idea/dream will come to you and you’re unable to shake it. Thoughts swirl around in your head and it continues to simmer on the so-called back burner until you decide to either dismiss it or take action. Last fall, I had one of those ideas that I just couldn’t let go - to develop a unique product line. Since then, I’ve been quietly working behind the scenes to make it a reality. Fast forward to today, we’re set to launch in just a few short weeks and I’m excited to reveal it to you and cast my creative vision out into the world! It’s called Trouvé Prop and I’d like to share what led me to this concept and give you a glimpse of what’s to come.

Life Lately

Life Lately

I can’t believe how fast this year is flying by. Does anyone else feel this way? I’ve really missed connecting with you here and thought it would nice to have a virtual coffee date so that we could catch up! I take mine with a tiny splash of half and half, you? I’ll jump right in here with a bullet list of what’s been happening in my world and I’d really love hearing what you have been up to as well!

How I Run My Creative Business

How I Run My Creative Business

I thought it would be interesting to switch things up a bit and begin a series of posts on how I manage and run my creative business. I’ve been self employed for over two decades and through that experience, have learned how to maintain and grow a small, but very profitable company. Aside from being self motivated, I believe having a system of organization has been key to my success. In an effort to help other creative entrepreneurs, I’d like to share the tools and strategies I use to keep things running smoothly.

Welcome to the New Site

Welcome to the New Site

Who says new beginnings only happen on Jan 1st? A mid-year refresh can be just as exhilarating, regardless of what the calendar might suggest. I've been wanting to switch things up over here so that the website better represents my professional services and workshops, while also organizing the blog and shop into a more streamlined experience for all. It feels good to have this massive project completed and I really hope you love the new space as much as I do!

Interview - Lauren Palmer of Bloomsbury Farm

Interview - Lauren Palmer of Bloomsbury Farm

Today we're continuing with my interview series of inspiring women who do unique and creative work. It seems now more than ever there are endless opportunities as to what a business might look like and how one might go about achieving success. Female trailblazers who are building their businesses off the beaten path, are in a way, sharing their gifts with those of us who aspire to achieve something meaningful in what we do for a living. In my line of work as an editor and stylist I’ve come across dozens of just such women, many of whom I consider friends, and I thought it would be great for you to get to know some of them as well.

Lauren Palmer is the owner and farmer of Bloomsbury Farm located in Smyrna, Tennessee. The farm is set on 400 breathtaking acres where she and her team cultivate and grow beautiful organic produce to sell at Saturday farmers markets around Nashville and to fill orders for their seasonal CSA baskets. But Bloomsbury Farm isn't only a farm - it is also a gorgeous event space; hosting weddings, special events, and farm-to-table gatherings. Lauren truly loves creating a community around farming, nature, and food - let's get to know her better!

Styling Work | Modern Farmhouse

Styling Work | Modern Farmhouse

Thought it might be nice for another installment of recent styling work. The last six months has seen a fairly intense work schedule and I missed sharing many of the holiday projects that hit newsstands during the season. So we'll just start fresh this year with this modern Alabama farmhouse for March issue of Country Living.

First, we need to talk about this little coffee alcove! Isn't it a genius use of a small space? I would be happy to start my morning here every single day. I kept the styling to a minimum since it was pretty fantastic on it's own. Only adding in the antique rug, fresh florals, and a plate of tiny apple crullers. The homeowners, Paige and Blair Thornton usually keep a Keurig in here but for the sake of editorial beauty I swapped it out for a French press, added a basket tray for warmth and texture and the coffee accoutrements. I love how the black flush mount fixtures add a graphic pop to the space and seriously covet the knitted stool Paige found at Tuesday Morning!
