French Pharmacy Favorites
One of my favorite things to do when visiting France, is to shop for beauty products at any one of their famous pharmacies. I could literally spend hours perusing the aisles of lotions and potions and I never leave empty handed. Over the years, there are standout products that I buy again and again, often stocking up on multiples of my must-haves, before returning home. So if you’re like me, obsessed with French beauty products, you might find my list of favorites and what I love about each of them, helpful on your next visit abroad. And if a trip to France isn’t on the agenda - you’re in luck, as I’ve found most of them online for you!
French Pharmacy Beauty Products
- La Roche Posay Redermic C Moisturizer: I like using this Vitamin C moisturizer as an under eye treatment. The lightweight formula also contains hyaluronic acid which helps to hydrate and plump fine lines. But it’s not a miracle worker friends. ;)
- Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse: I use this multi purpose oil on dry flyaway hair and split ends, and as a cuticle oil before bedtime. I’ve read that it’s the best selling oil in France. The feminine fragrance has notes of orange blossom, magnolia, and vanilla.
- Caudalie Beauty Elixir: I use this as a setting spray and as a quick refresher during the day. I always carry one in my bag - it’s especially nice to use when traveling or during the summer months. The fresh spa-like scent is actually addicting!
- Nuxe Sun Eau de Toilette: A summery fragrance that I’m often asked about when wearing. I’ve actually been stopped on the street! It can be hard to find in the US, so I usually buy a small bottle once a year which lasts until my next trip abroad.
- A313 Vitamin A Pommade: This pommade has a cult following in France. The formula contains pharmacy grade Vitamin A and can be purchased over the counter without a prescription. It’s great for treating fine lines and redness.
- Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré: Hands down this is my absolute #1 favorite! I use it every day and buy 6 at a time when I’m in France. It’s probably the one beauty product I would take with me if stranded on a deserted island. I even bought one of these metal keys in order to squeeze out every last bit. So, yeah - obsessed.
- Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet: Specifically designed for sensitive skin, this gel to water moisturizer is lightweight and very soothing. I like to keep one in my carry on bag to quickly remedy my dry skin when traveling.
- Nuxe Rêve de Miel Lip Balm: These make great little gifts to bring home. The honey citrus scent is especially nice.
- Garnier Biphase Micellaire Water: This is the best micellar water I’ve ever tried! With a single swipe, it completely removes my 24 hr lipstick. I haven’t been able to find a great source in the US, so I purchase several bottles when I’m in France.
- Le Petit Marseillais Orange Blossom Shower Cream: You can find this popular inexpensive brand at most supermarches and pharmacies. I’m very fond of the light orange blossom fragrance and sudsy bubbles. It’s a French household classic!
- Caudalie Divine Oil: Years ago, this was given to me as a gift from a very stylish French friend and I’ve been buying it ever since. I use it the same as the Nuxe Oil and occasionally as a hair treatment mask. I also like applying it to my legs after shaving.
- Bioderma Atoderm Lip Balm: A lip balm staple that I also purchase in bulk. It keeps my lips from feeling dry and chapped, but what I really love, is that I can wear this over my favorite long wear lipstick and it doesn’t remove any of the color!
