Recent Antique Finds
Recently I was able to hit the flea market with my neighbor. She's new at the treasure hunting game but has certainly caught the bug. It's nice to have someone close by who will also get up at o'dawn hundred to make the trek with the only guarantee being hot coffee. Because as we all know it can be hit or miss at the flea.
One of the items I found was this metal vase with perfect patina for our guest room. Fortunately my neighbor also let me pick flowers since our gardens are pitiful right now. I've actually been buying vases whenever they catch my eye because it's the one prop item I'm constantly having to source or ship from my inventory. So I'm happily stocking up in that department. Here are the other finds that came home with me....
A pretty Turkish towel because once I incorporate them in a photoshoot I try not to repeat the same towel in another. Hashtag - never enough. I thought the square shaped wood bowl was unusual and would make for a nice mix in my styling work. The African coil basket will be used for tortilla chips or bread and the batik fabric is for an upholstery project. I love, love when I find it in grey! The small antique mirror will most likely be propped on a shelf or hung in a closet or bath. There are plenty of places a little guy like that would work.
My favorite find was this vintage French copper preserve pan. I recently bought a new one from E. Dehellerin the last time I was in Paris and was perfectly happy with it until I saw this vintage beauty. With summer fruit and veggie season fast approaching I'm sure I'll be able to use both. I think I'll invite a few friends over and have a jam party. If you are in the market for a vintage one you can find them here or new I'd pick this perfect French one.
Thought it might be nice to share a breakdown of what I spent. Because sometimes I'm curious too!
Metal patina vase - 10.00
Turkish towel - 20.00
Square wood bowl - 2.00!
African coil basket - 15.00
Grey batik fabric - 65.00
French copper preserve pan - 80.00
Small wood mirror - 10.00
Not a bad morning at the flea. I actually went looking for art and leather chairs (which obviously didn't happen) but still felt I ended on a good note. And there's always next month! Have you scored anything amazing lately?
PS. Here are a few sources from our guest room in case you were wondering: Drapery hardware, linen panels, Amsterdam map, brass floor lamp, jar candle, chair and ottoman from HomeGoods, my husband made the table, everything else - antique shop or flea market finds.
